Urvann is India’s first hyperlocal marketplace specializing in indoor plants and gardening supplies. It was founded in 2021 by IIM-Ahmedabad and ISB alumni with an aim to bring “Vann” (forests) to urban homes, emphasizing the positive impact of plants on immunity and mental health.
Urvann offers over 2,000 products with same-day pickup and delivery in major cities of India.

Challenges

Despite the noble aim and quick shipping, Urvann was experiencing some search engine challenges and approached WebSpero Solutions for the following issues:

  • No Focus on User Intent: Content on Urvann’s website lacked keywords and did not align with the way users naturally search for information.
  • Not Covering “People Also Ask” (PAA) Queries: Urvann’s content didn’t address common questions, missing opportunities to appear in AI snippets.
  • Lack of Long-Tail Keywords: Missing long-tail keywords and conversational phrases in the blogs. 
  • Weak Internal Linking Structure: Blogs lacked interlinking structure. Also, anchor text and contextual internal links did not fit naturally.

Our Approach

To solve the challenges faced by Urvann, we implemented multi-layered SEO and Generative Engine Optimization strategies (GEO).

  • Focus on User Intent and “People Also Ask” (PAA) Questions: To make Urvann’s content appear in AI snippets, we conducted in-depth research on PAA questions using SEMrush and Google Keyword Planner. Then, we structured the content to mimic how users ask questions, ensuring it answered queries in a natural and informative manner. 
  • Optimize for Long-Tail Keywords: We expanded content to cover specific conversational phrases (long-tail keywords) that match user search behavior. For example, “Benefits of money plant leave,” or “Is money plant good for home?” 
  • Create Comprehensive, High-Quality Content: Crafted detailed, well-researched articles, ensuring each piece of content answered multiple related queries, reducing bounce rates. We also added high-quality infographics and visuals to increase engagement.
  • Add FAQ Sections: To ensure visibility in Search Generative Experience (SGE), we added a dedicated FAQ section that answered common questions related to the topic. For example:
  • How do you care for a money plant indoors?
  • Does money plant manifest money?
  • Can money plants survive without sunlight?
  • Optimize Internal Linking: Improved internal linking between blogs to create a structured content flow and also focused on the content hierarchy. For instance, we linked “10 Mind-Blowing Money Plant Benefits that You Should Know” to “Indoor Plants.” 

Results

Our data-driven SEO strategies and AI expertise yielded significant results for Urvann.

We improved Urvann’s AI visibility and organic reach by increasing the number of keywords in AI Overviews by 435, achieving a 123.23% growth.
